DHA — Docosahexaenoic acid

DHA is the most abundant omega-3 fat in your brain (270 times more than EPA) and makes up about 50 percent of the fat in the highly specialized signaling cells called neurons. DHA creates hormones called neuroprotectins and resolvins that combat inflammation in the brain. It can also block signals that cause brain cells to die during stress. This fat is linked to better memory as you age.

Low levels of DHA are associated with depression, bipolar disorder, suicide, ADHD, and Alzheimer’s disease.
