Surviving the Holidays 101 - Dr Drew Ramsey MD

The holidays are a busy time. While people struggle with the holidays for different reasons, they can be a real challenge for all of our mental health.

The travel. The family. All the food. The pressure to have accomplished. The money. Fear of coal in your stocking. It easily becomes a turbulent season. (What happened to the year anyway?)

As I wish you and yours Happy Holidays, I wanted to offer a few thoughts. Especially as this year offered us all a new set of challenges.

This year, I joined the Well+Good wellness council. It’s been a really wonderful experience, especially because I’ve been able to write about things like addiction, suicide and mental health. They asked me to share some #realtalk about the holidays. I hope the tips I share in this piece help you better navigate the holiday season. Sometimes just naming things helps us from stumbling over them.

As I reflect on the year, I’m giving thanks for many things, including you. Something about mental health, brain health and brain food got uncorked in 2017 and your support, listening, and liking motivates me to keep that conversation going loud and strong.

This year I was able to launch my first e-course, Eat To Beat Depression. Thousands of people heard about the course and our first wave of participants are changing their food before our eyes. This information is vital, and I feel privileged to be sharing it with you. Thank you for the support, and for those of you who missed it, stay tuned, we will be launching again in early 2018.
